Fighting at Damoria
Launch an attack
The first thing to do is select an attack group and the corresponding target castle. Once this is done, a new overview page will be shown which has a list of all troop costs. The higher the combat strength of the troops, the higher the costs will be for battle. The costs of your troops can be reduced if you slow down the speed of your troops. The slower they are, the less your troop costs will be.
Detailed description of the battle procedure
1. Offensive troops are greeted in battle by a rain of fire from the defender’s archers and catapults.
2. The offensive archers attack back.
3. The offensive side now attacks using their archers, catapults and battering rams against the defender’s archers and catapults at the same time.
4. If the attacker has enough people to storm the wall, all troops may now be used against the defender. If the number of attackers is too small, the attack will fail at the wall.
5. The total attack strength of all troops will be calculated and will be offset against the total defensive values.
6. The damage caused will be distributed among the troops evenly to prevent the automatic deletion of weaker troop units.
7. Procedure #5 will be repeated until a winner has been determined.
8. If the offensive side is victorious, he/she will loot all the raw materials stored in the defender’s castle. The carrying capacities of the individual troops are now much higher than they were before the update.
Battle tip
If an attacker wishes to storm a castle, he/she should enlist the services of spies first to find out how his/her opponent is organized. You should pay special attention to the height of the wall. After you've found that out, you should try to find out how many troops you need in order to scale the wall. Otherwise your troops will just stand around in front of it. If they can't storm the wall, they'll become an easy target for the defender's archers and catapults.
In order to protect your main battle unit, it's a good idea to send a large group of archers to weaken the opponent's defense units behind the wall.
Make sure to pay attention to your troops' defense values! If your losses are too high for certain kinds of troops, then it's because your defense values aren't good enough. The attack and defense values can be increased through research by alchemists.
Surrendering
Here is where you can determine the amount of losses you are willing to accept before you surrender. For example, if you choose the 75% option as attacker, the surviving 25% of your troops will be allowed to return to their home base after a capitulation.
Choose this option as defender, and your troops will surrender their weapons after the selected percentage of their comrades have fallen in battle. The enemy troops march in, plunder and leave. The defender, however, gets to retain at least a portion of his army.
Surrendering and capturing
If the defender surrenders before an attack in which a senator is involved, the senator completes his job and persuades the inhabitants of the castle. The remaining troops from the defender are ignored, because they laid down their weapons. If the castle is conquered, all remaining troops from the defender will be destroyed. Conquerers in Damoria take no captives!
Ten-castle limit
If a player already owns ten castles, it is no longer possible for him to conquer further castles with a senator or to build new ones with a construction wagon.
This limit will be lifted in the future, but will remain in effect for the time being.
Destroying construction sites
Catapults are capable of destroying the empty construction sites of a castle. You cannot target individual construction sites directly.
If the construction sites have been destroyed, this will be shown for each castle under the display for construction sites as a number between the completed construction sites and the empty sites. Destroyed construction sites can be repaired; this costs time and raw materials, and is dependent on the condition of the site. Regardless of whether a construction site is 99% or 0% intact after an attack, you cannot start a construction project there until it has been repaired.
Espionage
When spies are sent alone into battle, this is known as a spy attack. There are extra rules for this situation.
For a spy attack, there won't be any warning highlighted in orange.
Only the attacking and the defending spy fight against each other. No walls must be scaled. A wall does, however, still provide the defender with a wall bonus in his defense value.
If the attacker wins, his identity will not be revealed in the battle report of the defender. If the attacker loses, the identity of the enemy spy will be revealed.
Building protection
This protection is only for players whose castles have not yet reached 100,000 points.
At the beginning of the game, a menu will pop up in the battle settings in which the player can select 7 buildings to protect from catapult attacks. The number of buildings which can be completely protected like this diminishes during the course of the game. This building protection is designed to help new players defend themselves against bashing, attacks by superior players, etc.
